Eating Well with
Canada's Food Guide

Health Canada wanted the Food Guide to resonate
and appeal to all Canadians, regardless of demographic make-up, culture or preferences. They wanted to breathe ‘life’ and a long-term, timeless appeal into the guide, including the rainbow image that had been established by the previous Food Guide. Through a competitive presentation process, Ryan/Smith was awarded this project, which included: hundreds of food illustrations; design of three cover and interior spread concepts for focus group testing across Canada; further focus group tested concepts; and final refinements based on Health Canada feedback. Once the Food Guide look had been established, Health Canada approached Ryan/Smith to design its Educators Resource and My Food Guide Servings Tracker through an integrated family look.
